These past few weeks, I’ve been sorting through all the boxes that contain my childhood toys. And boy, I think I just added a little fun in my life! First, here are the treasures I’ve found. Who remembers these?
Polly Pocket: school, restaurant, house, and day care.
^^ I just realized I’ve been owning a Polly Pocket sized Kim Jong-un for all these years. He runs a pistachio colored school. With discipline!
I have also rediscovered my Littlest Pet Shop collection. Wow, the memories!
I’m amazed I still own the original packagings. I remember wanting the whole series so badly!
And then I found this little guy …
And that’s when my enthusiasm got a bit out of hand, because I declared I will never be too old to play with electronic pets. So I went ahead and purchased 2 brand new Tamagotchis at my local toy store:
And you know what? I love it! I should seriously do this more often because this is the best remedy to a boring adult day! Going through all my old childhood stuff was a ton of fun. They’d been in boxes for almost 15 years, so I’ve organized them better, and also cleaned and washed most of it. My initial plan was to store them all in the attic. But … I’ve now decided to leave some out. My Tamagotchi being one of them, as I’m currently running it. Seriously. Can you believe it’s still in perfect working condition? That thing is almost 20 years old. I just popped new batteries in, and bam, it works.
I can’t wait to start using the two new ones I got, as soon as I’m done with the vintage one. This will – from now on – be my sweet little break from adulthood every once in a while. And every so often, I’m going to treat myself and buy either a vintage version or a newer version. Just like that. Because what a boring world this would be if every single one of us fully grew up, right? 😝
