I resisted for the longest time, but I’ve finally given in … my new collection of scented candles has officially started.
So, today I tried the marshmallow candle by Spaas (a Belgian company) and I love it. It’s just subtle enough; not too strong. I wish they’d design cuter labels though. Their logo is a little too plain, so I can’t say it’s very decorative. That’s why I’m considering buying Yankee candles next. Their pots and labels just look better. How superficial of me, right? Other than that, I have to say, Spaas candles smell great once lit!
By the way, these are the candle holders I received from Gert’s cousin for Christmas:
Aren’t they beautiful?
Anyway, that’s about it for now. No special update or news today. I just wanted to share these pretty candle pictures. So there you go!
Good Lord, I need a haircut. I haven’t been to the hairdresser in over two years (!!!) Quite embarrassing, really. At first, I said I would make an appointment for my wedding, which I didn’t do because I ended up doing my hair myself lol Then I was going to have it done before Sam’s birth, which didn’t happen because I felt like crap the entire last month, and then of course everything went to Hell and so, at that point, I REALLY couldn’t be bothered anymore. But now I’m posting it on my blog, so I *HAVE* to keep my word and schedule an appointment soon! Pinky promise.
And here are some of the bracelets I mentioned in my previous post:
Got a fabulous deal on them, as they only cost 5€ for a pack of 6 (the other three have rhinestones). I love them!
I almost never shop these days. So when I finally do, I like to brag about it! Here’s my new favorite skirt, which hits right above my knees. Perfect length!
Forever21 had an awesome promo going on two weeks ago, so I got 11 items for 50€ total, including free shipping! Such a good deal! It’s crazy how fast things sell out on that website. Unfortunately the necklace is no longer available. But the lace skirt is still in stock right here.
I got the skirt in a size large, which still makes me laugh because I didn’t have the impression to be that big, but apparently I am … Goes to show how important it is to measure yourself accurately before you place an order.
Nevertheless, it fits wonderfully and it’s super comfortable. I’ve completely changed my shopping strategy now that I’ve gone through an entire pregnancy (and hopefully will again in the future). My new rules include: no buttons, no zippers, only elasticated waists and stretchy fabrics. I also got a few tops in larger sizes because my entire wardrobe consists of sizes small and medium, and it just didn’t get me far beyond my first trimester. So it’s definitely time for a wider range.
Anyway, I also got a few bracelets, tops, and another skirt. I will post about those later.
I’m slowly nearing my weight goal. Only 1.5kg left to lose! It’s going very slowly but it’s very consistent, so that’s nice and healthy. My goal will probably be reached in about 2 to 3 weeks. Yay for that :-)
Okay, that didn’t take long! I called the breeder about an hour ago to confirm that we would love to adopt “Wolf”, the little three year old male chihuahua. We can go pick him up on Saturday, January 3rd 2015. Lots of fun moments ahead :-) Jules the cat is about to have a new little companion. (Whether he likes it or not). I will definitely do my best to make the adjustment for him go as smoothly as possible.
Here are the supplies I have ready to use:
– A white dinner bowl with a wide flat bottom so it won’t fall over. I should have bought a second one for water *duh* So that’s on my next shopping list
– I also got the Water Rover a couple of months ago (blue topped bottle), as well as a blue collapsible water bowl. Both these items are meant to be used while out on the go.
– Then there’s my good old clicker, for training
– As well as my doggie treat pouch, which is to be worn at the hips and will be handy to reward good behavior while training.
I’m obviously missing a few more essentials though. We kinda picked a bad timing for our last minute shopping. Because now we have to get dog food, a collar, a leash, and some toys before Saturday … keeping in mind that tomorrow is New Year’s eve, and the day after tomorrow is New Year, so that only leaves Friday. But oh well, we’ll get it done! I’m not going to buy him a bed just yet. We have tons of large pillows and fleece blankets, so we’ll first see what cozy spots he likes best and then we’ll be able to make a more suitable choice based on his preferences.
I can’t wait to welcome our new little buddy at home :-)
Well, look what I found in my attic the other day, neatly wrapped in plastic with not one spec of dust nor a scratch:
It’s the original deluxe carrier by Sherpa. This is the black model in size large. Although, I would personally label it more like a medium. But it’s airline approved; so when you know this is meant to fit under an airplane seat, I suppose this is about as big as you could squeeze in.
I had completely forgotten that I own this. It’s in brand new condition. I only used it a few times in Manhattan to take the subway with my previous dog, Jack, as pets aren’t allowed in New York subways unless they’re in a closed carrier. It was definitely too small for Jack. But this was the largest option I could get away with if I wanted to take New York’s public transport with him.
This carrier will, however, be great for a chihuahua! Just enough room to move around comfortably. It can also be secured onto a car seat, apparently. I’ve never actually tried it, but I will in due time. This will basically be perfect to bring my future puppy home, as well as to take various trips. And who knows, maybe one day it will be used to travel by plane. Although at that point, I would probably consider downgrading to either a medium or a small; depending on the dog’s size. Because while I think the large one could fit under the seat of a Boeing (albeit, with a bit of squeezing), I’m 100% sure it will not fit on board of a smaller plane. I’ve had smaller purses that had to be put into the overhead compartment when flying in the 2 + 2 seating layout.
For specific long term car use, I would probably look into buying the Lookout II pet car seat instead:
However, my Sherpa carrier should do the job until then. And it will definitely come in handy in various situations.
The inside is lined with faux lambswool padding, which is removable for washing. All sides are mesh, except for the back.
Mine is an older model from circa 2006. It has brown trimming and brown leather tags, as well as gold metal. The newer ones are apparently one solid color, and the black model has silver zippers & locks instead of gold. So, just a few minor differences.
