Lovely Sunday we had yesterday! Our local castle was open to visit. Or I should specify: the whole area around it, which is usually a closed private property. The main attraction was actually the old castle’s farm. They’re apparently trying to raise funds to restore the whole thing. Gert’s family (like 2 generations ago) used to live there. We like to say they’re from the castle, but they’re really from the castle’s farm. Haha! Close enough :-)
I should probably watch the news tonight and see if I can catch myself taking this picture lol
What a fun day we had! We finally went to visit the breeder for the first time. We had already met her last year at the Belgian Chihuahua Club Show, but it was so hectic there that we only got to chat for about 5 minutes. Today, we talked for over two hours (!). We got to see about 6 dogs, 2 of which were available for adoption right away. One is a 4 month old puppy (white with brown spots). The other one is the adult male she mentioned on the phone (greyish / white with dark grey spots on his tail); he’s 3 years old. I first thought he was about 1 year old, but I think I had him confused with a long haired adult that’s out of our budget and which I wasn’t very interested in anyway.
Gert took the pictures, so excuse the poor quality (lol sorry Gert).
The new litter she was expecting was born three days ago. She showed us two of the tiny puppies and I swear they are the size of a mouse. Crazy!
Anyway, I think we’ve got our hearts set on “Wolf”, the little greyish adult (last picture above). He was actually the first one to greet us when we came in and he snuggled up against us right away. It’s like he chose us before we did :-) For all I know, though, he could be that way with everybody. Hah!
I was open minded about the idea of perhaps getting an adult dog, although I have to admit my first preference leaned more towards a puppy. But this little guy’s personality seems so calm and easy going. He seems like such a good match for us. I haven’t decided yet if we would keep his name or not.
We’ll think about it for a few more days. But I’m fairly sure our hearts have already adopted this little guy!
